The east part of Bulgaria lies on the Black Sea's coast.The Bulgarian Coast is 378 km long. There are many beautiful beaches, bays, resorts and interesting places. Among the most popular resorts are: Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, Albena, Ahtopol, Sozopol, Pomorie, Balczik and much more. The Bulgarian Riviera is perfect for people who love spending their holiday sunbathing, doing nothing, but also for those people who like discovering new areas. The Bulgarian coast is dotted with numerous historical and cultural sights like the towns of Nessebar, Varna, Sozopol and others.
The oldest Bulgarian coast town is Sozopol. It is located in a rocky cape. Sozopol was originally Ancient Greek town built in 610 B.C. Today it is a very popular resort with two sandy beaches and beautiful stone-wooden 19th-century architecture.
Nesebar is an another charming place which beaches and unique architecture attract plenty of tourists. Nesebar was built by Thracians 3 thousands years ago. There are numerous buildings from the 11th to 14th centuries which make this town extremely interesting.
The most famous resort on Bulgarian coast is Sunny Beach. Its beaches stretch on the distance of 8km. This resort is full of bars, clubs, restaurants and other attractions. A comparable to Sunny Beach resort is Golden Sands with one of the best sand beaches in Europe. It is surrounded by wooded Golden Sands Nature Park. Next to the resort there are Aladzha – the cave monastery complex which is worth seeing.
The other sea resorts are Primorsko known for its 10km-long beach and numerous possibilities of spending time actively, Albena – the huge resort located 25 km from Varna or Balczik situated on the small bay. It is the third-biggest Bulgarian harbour. There are queen Mary's palace – the major attraction of Balczik, the Botanical Garden and sandy beach.
