We recommend you a day tour from Sofia to two magnificent cities of the north central Bulgaria - Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi. Veliko Tarnovo called „the city of the Tsars” is the historical capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. The city is beautifuly located along a ridge above the Yantra River what makes this place extremely interesting. Veliko Tarnovo is also one of the oldest settlements in Bulgaria. The first people probably lived here in the 3rd millenium BC. Arbanassi is a village set on a high plateau famous for its unique architecture. There are numerous very valuable churches, houses and other monuments.
During our full day tour you will learn more about Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi walking along cobbled streets of these magnificent places. You will see the most significant sites of Valko Tarnovo such as the hill-fortres Tsarevets, museum reserve and you will walk along craftmen's street Samovodskata charshia. In Arbanassi you will enjoy its architectural beauty and visit the museum village of Arbanassi as well as the Church of the Nativity of Christ where can be found murals presenting scenes from the Old and New Testament.
